Sometimes in life, you just need professional help. The hard part is knowing when to ask for it.
My husband has been hinting around for some time that we needed to clean my Chevy Equinox. And he's also been saying that he's ready to trade in my vehicle. Now my car is definitely in need of a good deep cleaning, but by no means is it the dirtiest of the mommy vans out there! There are some of my friends (who shall remain nameless) who could probably pull out an entire week's wardrobe from the back of their minivan. Maybe an entire Happy Meal too. My car just needed to be vacuumed, have the carpets shampooed, and it needed to be detailed to get all the crumbs and dust out of the crevices.
I decided to get it professionally done. Really, I did it more for my husband than for me. Since I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, my husband has taken on the majority of the household duties, and I didn't feel right about adding one more thing for him to do. So I looked around, got a few references, and called up a detailing shop.
I won't pretended to be some sort of gearhead goddess, but when the car came back, it looked pretty dang good to me. Actually, I thought it looked beautiful. Not perfect, but so much better than before. Sort of like when you go to counseling. You don't get better completely in one session, but maybe you get a little better…you have a road map for what you want to work on, that sort of thing.
If there's something you are struggling with in life, whether it's a crowded garage, a uber-dirty car, or a personal problem you just can't seem to overcome, try getting a little bit of professional help. It may be just the boost you need to get you over the hump and over to the other side where you can navigate on your road of life by your self again. Don't be afraid to ask for help – it's the strongest thing you can do!
